At this year’s national Local Government Chronicle (LGC) Awards, held in London on Wednesday 12th March 2014, Buckinghamshire County Council was announced as the outright winner of the Corporate Governance category.

The LGC awards are one of the biggest celebrations of innovation and talent across British councils.

The award recognised the way in which all the County Council’s elected councillors are making changes to improve the services and performance of the Council. In announcing the award, the judging panel said that Buckinghamshire was a ‘good council with excellent member relations’. They also described the changes that Councillors had made as ‘highly impressive’.
