MATCH REPORT – Portsmouth 1-1 Wycombe Wanderers

| September 20, 2014

In the first half Wycombe Wanderers were without doubt the better team however a shot off the line from Murphy was the closest the Blues came to scoring.

Following a goalless first half the Wanderers opened the scoring in the 50th minute thanks to a goal from Sam Wood. For twenty minutes the Blues held the lead but Johnny Ertl equalised for Portsmouth with a strike twelve yards out following a corner.

Despite both teams making a push to find a winner the elusive match clinching goal failed to materialise leaving both teams to share the points after a thrilling and close match.

Ball possession was 51% to Wycombe and 49% to Portsmouth however Wycombe managed to make nineteen shots at goal with only four on target to Portsmouth’s nine shots at goal with just three on target.

Three Wycombe players were shown the yellow card (Pierre, Scowen and Hayes) compared to two for Portsmouth (Whatmough and Robinson).

The Chairboys continue to occupy third place in the League Two table with eighteen points from nine games.

Attendance: 16,171 (729 Wycombe Wanderers supporters)
