Car parks run by Wycombe District Council to become pay and display

| February 24, 2017

Council run car parks in the Wycombe District are to be converted to ‘pay and display’ payment technology over the weekend of Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th February 2017.

With the exception of The Swan and Easton Street car parks, all Council run fee-paying car parks in the Wycombe District will change to the pay and display system.

The pay and display system means customers pay for their parking on their arrival to the car park using coins or card and must display a valid ticket. The RingGo telephone payment service will also be available in pay and display car parks.

In The Swan and Easton Street car parks motorists will continue to pay when they leave with newly installed barriers at the exits automatically rising for permit holders and customers who have paid for their stay at the machines.

Contactless payment technology has been made available in some of the busier car parks in the Wycombe District.

A software upgrade of the existing payment machines will be carried out over the weekend of Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th February 2017. The upgrade will start in Marlow on Saturday 25th February 2017. Parking will be free in Marlow on Saturday 25th February 2017 to allow for the upgrade, with pay and display to begin on Sunday 26th February 2017.

Changes to the software in the parking machines in affected car parks in High Wycombe, Princes Risborough and Bourne End will take place on Sunday 26th February 2017 when parking is mostly free.

Pay and display in High Wycombe, Princes Risborough and Bourne End will begin on Monday 27th February 2017. The Easton Street and Swan car parks will operate as usual over the weekend.

Due to the changes, online payment will not be available from Saturday 25th February 2017, customers have been contacted directly about how this may affect them.

Permit holders will not be affected by these changes as they will still be valid under the new arrangements.

Blue badge holders are currently required to register their badges with parking services to obtain free parking. From Sunday 26th February 2017 this will now only be required if you use the Easton Street and The Swan car parks in High Wycombe.

Further information on the changes to how you pay for parking in Council run car parks can be found on the Wycombe District Council website at www.wycombe.gov.uk/parkingischanging.
