Two die after house caught fire in Holmer Green, High Wycombe

A fire in a house at Holmer Green claimed the lives of two people during the early morning of Monday 24th April 2017.

At 4.00am firefighters were called to a two storey end of terrace house at Skimmers Close, Holmer Green near High Wycombe following reports that a serious fire had broke out on first floor,

Two fire appliances with crews attended from High Wycombe fire station as well as one from Beaconsfield. An officer also attend the scene.

It was made clear to the firefighters that people may still be trapped inside the burning property. A man in his 80’s and a woman in her 70’s were rescued from the burning building by the firefighters but sadly there were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

A main jet, two hose reels and four sets of breathing apparatus were used by the firefighters during the operation to extinguish the fire.

Officers from Thames Valley Police and the South Central Ambulance Service also attended the fire.

Formal identification of the deceased is yet to take place but their next of kin have been informed.

Detective Inspector Simone Marples of High Wycombe CID said: ‘At this early stage, we believe there are no suspicious circumstances and we are liaising with Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service to investigate the cause of the fire.

Our thoughts are with the families of those involved at this difficult time.
