Wycombe Wanderers secure automatic promotion to League One

Wycombe Wanders have secured automatic promotion to League One.

A goal by Dominic Gape clinched an away win over Chesterfield by two goals to one.

Today’s win, together with defeats for Notts County and Exeter have handed Wycombe the final automatic promotion place in League Two meaning that in the 2018/19 football season the Blues will be playing in League One.

Promotion to League One marks a great achievement for Wycombe’s manager Gareth Ainsworth who took charge of the club in 2012, initially as a caretaker, when Wycombe were at the bottom of League Two and facing a potential second straight relegation.
