Wycombe Wanderers 2-3 Southend United

Southend United visited Adams Park on Saturday 29th September 2018 for a League One match against Wycombe Wanderers.

From the start of the game Southend threatened the Wycombe goal, there were plenty of attempts but the shots were either saved, missed or blocked.

It wasn’t until the thirty eighth minute that Southend took the lead. Theo Robinson shot from the left side of the six yard box with the ball finding the bottom left corner of the Wycombe net.

At half time Southend still retained their one goal lead. However they scored another soon after the match resumed for the second half. Tom Hopper  shot from very close range to give the visitors their second goal in the fifty third minute.

Four minutes later Southend took a three goal lead though Simon Cox who shot from the right side of the box placing the ball into the bottom left corner of Wycombe’s goal.

Wycombe were trying to fight back with many attempts on the Southend goal but the ball failed to find the back of the net.

Craig Mackail-Smith scored Wycombe’s first goal in the eighty third minute, a left footed shot from outside the box found the top right corner of the Southend net.

Wycombe scored a second in the eighty sixth minute when Adebayo Akinfenwa shot from the centre of the box, the ball finding the centre of the goal.

Despite sever other attempts on goal Wycombe failed to find a third, time ran out and Wycombe succumbed to the home defeat.

Following today’s game Wycombe drop to twentieth place in League One with eight points from ten games.
