Man convicted of two counts of grievous bodily harm following assaults in Chesham pub

A man has been convicted of two counts of grievous bodily harm in Chesham.

At around 10.00pm on Saturday 18th August 2018 two people were assaulted in the Jolly Sportsman pub in Chesham.

A 56 year old man was assaulted at the bar causing the victim an eye injury while a 30 year old man was assaulted causing the victim serious facial injuries.

A 25 year old man was charged with the assaults on Tuesday 22nd January 2019. On Tuesday 30th April 2019, at Aylesbury Crown Court, a 25 year old man of no fixed abode pleaded guilty to one count of grievous bodily harm with intent and one count of grievous bodily harm without intent.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Fred Ruffle based at Aylesbury Force CID, said: ‘[The 25 year old man] carried out two ferocious and unprovoked attacks which left both his victims with injuries.

Following these violent assaults, [the 25 year old man] also attempted to evade police but was successfully arrested and charged.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who came forward with information about this case and the hard work of this investigation team, which has ultimately led to this guilty plea.

Thames Valley Police takes reports of this nature seriously and will investigate them thoroughly.
