Scooter rider dies following collision on A355 at Beaconsfield

A fatal collision in Beaconsfield on Sunday 5th May 2019 has resulted in an appeal for witnesses by Thames Valley Police.

At around 10.50pm, a collision occurred between a white Vauxhall Corsa and a silver Piaggio scooter on the A355 Amersham Road, Beaconsfield between the A40 roundabout and the junction of Maxwell Road.

Paramedics treated the rider of the scooter, a 19 year old man from High Wycombe, at the scene but sadly he died at hospital. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Investigating officer, Sergeant James Atkinson, of the Joint Operation Roads Police Unit based at Taplow, said: ‘We are investigating this incident in which sadly a 19 year old has sadly died.

Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

I would like to appeal to witnesses to the collision to come forward, and particularly to anyone who was driving at the time of the collision on the A355 Amersham Road and might have dash-cam footage of the incident.

Also I would ask anyone who lives on the A355 between the roundabout of the A40 through to the Maxwell Road junction, and has residential CCTV to also review their CCTV from last night and please get in touch if they have footage of the collision.

I would also like to appeal to any other eye witnesses to the collision to come forward.

Thames Valley Police are appealing for anyone with information about the collision to call 101 or make a report on the Thames Valley Police website  quoting reference 1445 5/5/2019. Alternatively you can make a 100% anonymous report to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Police have made the following arrests in connection with the collision :

  • On the morning of Thursday 9th May 2019 police officers arrested an 18 year old man from High Wycombe on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of a collision and driving with no insurance.
  • A 17 year old boy from Farnham Common who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been released on police bail until Monday 3rd June 2019.
  • A 20 year old man from High Wycombe who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been released under investigation.

A 19 year old woman from High Wycombe, a 16 year old boy from High Wycombe and a 17 year old boy from High Wycombe who were previously arrested in connection with the incident have been released with no further action.
