On Sunday 9th February 2020 improvement work is to start on the entrance to Wycombe Air Park in Clay Lane, High Wycombe.

The work will include:

  • Reconstructing and widening the junction.
  • Widening the road.
  • Improving the pedestrian crossing facility, drainage and vegetation clearance to improve visibility for drivers and pedestrians.

Temporary two-way traffic lights will be needed 24 hours a day until work finishes in early March 2020 due to excavations close to the road by the contractors undertaking the work. The work will be monitored by Buckinghamshire County Council highways staff.

The cost of the road improvement is being met by Wycombe District Council as part of wider improvement works at the air park and depot.

The Clay Lane entrance work completes the new road into the air park which replaces a road that had been in use since World War II and was rapidly deteriorating. WDC took the opportunity to greatly improve the specifications in order to help ensure the air park is ready for future expansion and commercial opportunities.

Mark Shaw, Deputy Leader and Transport Cabinet Member at Buckinghamshire County Council, said: ‘These improvements aim to make things safer for everyone at this junction, which is a worthwhile investment in our roads. I apologise for any inconvenience the work may cause, and I’m sure the contractors will try to keep this to a minimum.

Steve Broadbent, Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Regeneration, said: ‘Wycombe District Council actively works to improve the local economy, and this new road will enable further business opportunities at the park.
