Police appeal for witnesses after a man is assaulted in New Road, High Wycombe

An appeal for witnesses has been launched by Thames Valley Police after a man was assaulted in New Road, High Wycombe.

On Thursday 14th May 2020, at around 10.45pm, a 35 year old man was outside the Tesco Express store on Turnpike Road, Cressex, High Wycombe when a group of five young men approached.

An argument started and the group and the 35 year old man moved to New Road where the argument continued.

One of the offenders punched the 35 year old man in the face with an object that was fixed around his knuckles. The 35 year old man fell and hit his head on the kerb. The rest of the group then started kicking the 35 year old man.

Two men in a car on New Road got out and stopped the group from continuing to assault the 35 year old man.

Four of the group involved in the assault ran off back towards the Tesco Express store while the man who threw the punch and the two men from the car walked into the Tesco Express store.

During the assault the 35 year old man sustained cuts to his head. He was taken to Wexham Park hospital for stitches to the wound on his head.

The group of five men involved in the assault are all described as young Asian men.

Investigating officer PC Rob Allen, based at High Wycombe police station, said: ‘I am appealing for anyone who was in the area either in Tesco or on New Road and who saw or heard anything to get in touch.
