Opinion : Mindless vandals have ruined the lives of decent Wycombe people

Over the past few days the hardworking people of Wycombe have been tormented by acts of mindless vandalism.

For several nights cars windows have been smashed, graffiti daubed on vehicles and bodywork damaged in what can only be described an act of madness to make innocent people suffer.

Last Sunday yours truly went to see some of the damage for myself.

In Baronsmead road, just off Deeds Grove, polythene and pieces of cardboard were covering the spaces left after car windows had been broken.

On the other side of town, in Green Hill, there was similar evidence of destruction where car after car had been damaged.

When my good self drove down the road to survey the destruction a young woman and man were busy trying to patch up a broken car window with a roll of cling film.

What on earth do the rascals who perpetrated this crime get from their actions?

Why take anger out on ordinary people who have done nothing wrong?

What will smashing up cars achieve except turn people against those who do the damage?

Despite helicopter hoverings and police horses trotting through residential roads the rascals that did the damage have yet to be caught. The question is will they ever be caught?

It would appear the areas targeted were chosen carefully. A quiet residential road where lots of cars are parked yet nearby is a main road to give an easy getaway.

Throughout the town residents are now living in fear. People are afraid to go to bed and rather than watching television car owners are sitting by the window looking out in case the vandals pay a visit.

These acts of vandalism that have spread across the town show the fragility the underlies our society. All it takes is for a few people to go rotten and look what havoc they cause.

The days when Wycombe was a quiet market town nestling in the Chiltern Hills are well and truly gone. Ghetto Wycombe is order of the day where mindless yobs roam the streets after dark smashing up other peoples property.

My heart goes out to those who have been the victims of this latest chapter in crime in Wycombe. Innocent people have been made to suffer at the hands of a selfish minority.

As a result of the vandalism noticeably more people appear to be parking their cars in their driveways and in their garages rather than leaving them beside the road.

In truth every motorist in the town will suffer if insurance premiums rise as a result of the recent attacks indeed we are all likely to be victims of the recent madness. The innocent will pay for the actions of a few.

The mindless minority need to be caught and brought to book before they cause further destruction and yet more innocent victims have to spend hard earned money putting right unnecessary damage.

What do you think?
