Events taking place in High Wycombe town centre during Autumn 2020
A series of exciting events are to take place in High Wycombe town centre during Autumn 2020.
Organised by HWBIDCo, the events aim to celebrate this Autumn & Winter in the best way possible, right up until Christmas.
With social-distancing at the forefront of everyone’s minds, some of this year’s activities will look a little different, but there’s still plenty of fun and ‘days out’ for all the family to enjoy.
On Sunday 27th September 2020 from 10.00am to 3.00pm the ‘ShowBus Flyby‘ bus parade will be coming to High Wycombe High Street.
Sunday 27th September 2020 also marks the launch of ‘FiveFest’ which is a two-week campaign running from Sunday 27th September to Sunday 11th October 2020. Shops and restaurants across the town centre promoting special deals and services for just a ‘fiver’. Participating retailers will be displaying a poster in their windows, plus keep an eye out on HWBIDCo social media for extra special promotions.
On Sunday 25th and Saturday 31st October 2020, the town centre will be hosting a series of ‘Ghost Walks‘ lead by a professional ghost-hunter to unearth the ghoulish past of High Wycombe. The family-friendly tours will be FREE and pre-bookable in advance.
Sunday 8th November 2020 sees the ‘Vegan Market‘ return to High Wycombe with over 30 specialist stalls from the across the UK, showcasing a huge array of healthy eats, artisan savouries, sweet bakes, craft cheeses, handmade cosmetics and ethical clothing.
This year High Wycombe’s traditional ‘Light Switch On’ Event will be replaced by an immersive ‘Lights Experience‘ installed and ‘lit up’ around the town centre from Thursday 26th November 2020. Buildings in Frogmoor, Desborough Road and the High Street will be bathed in festive hues and projected scenes and enchanting dancing lights will be scattered throughout the town. The ‘Lights Experience’ can be enjoyed every evening until Christmas.
From Thursday 17th to Wednesday 23rd December 2020 a giant LED cinema screen will be popping up in Frogmoor. The ‘Festive Film Club‘ will be screening two Christmas classics each day at 12.00pm and 2.00pm, featuring all the greats including Elf, Polar Express, Home Alone and more. Screenings will be FREE to attend for all and seating will be available.
On Saturday 19th December 2020 the Guildhall in High Wycombe High Street will play host to a special ‘Spin & Win – Festive Wheel of Fortune‘ from 11.00am to 4.0pm with shoppers trying their luck to win Christmas goodies galore. Simply show a receipt obtained from a town centre shop or restaurant that day and take a spin. Every player is a guaranteed winner, but will you hit the festive jackpot?

Whilst it’s been a tough year for everyone, we want to continue celebrating High Wycombe – from road show tours, pop up markets and even a giant outdoor cinema this Christmas, there’s so much going on – we’re excited to welcome the community into the heart of the town centre this Autumn & Winter.‘
