| July 29, 2019

A new primary school in High Wycombe is to open its doors in September 2019.

Abbey View Primary Academy in High Wycombe will open its doors for the very first time at the start of the new academic year in September 2019.

The new school in Kennedy Avenue, off Daws Hill Lane High Wycombe has been created to cater for growing demand for school places brought about by new housing growth in the area and has been funded from Section 106 contributions from housing developers.

The design of the new premises allows for future expansion from 1 to 2 forms of entry as the demand rises from further new housing currently being considered in the area.

The school will initially welcome 30 children in foundation stage along with a Year 1 and Year 2 class. The establishment will slowly grow its offer of places, building up to Year 6 by 2023. Nursery places will also be offered in time to meet need in the local area.

Anita Cranmer, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills at Buckinghamshire County Council, said: ‘We will be delighted to see the opening of Abbey View Primary Academy this September. Their new pupils will be able to learn and thrive in an exciting new school building that boasts the very latest state of the art facilities.

We are fully committed to fulfilling our statutory duty to ensure there are adequate school places available for all our children across the county and this school is just one of the ways we have worked with developers, stakeholders and the local community to bring about this important new asset to the local community which we are confident will quickly become an embedded and valued institution.

Further information on the new school can be found on their website at www.abbeyviewprimaryacademy.org.
