Despite being the more dominant side Wycombe found themselves a goal down a shade before half time thanks to Hartlepool’s Barmby finding the top corner in the forty second minute.
After play resumed for the second half Wycombe drew level when in the fifty second minute Morgan headed past Flinders in the Hartlepool goal.
Eighteen minutes later, in the seventieth minute, a Kretzchmar corner provided McClure with a header which secured Wycombe three points and extended their unbeaten run to six games.
With and almost equal possession ration of 51% to Wycombe and 49% to Hartlepool it was a very even match. There were two bookings on each side, McCoy and Scowen for Wycombe and Barmby and Walton for Hartlepool. Wycombe were by far the more dominant side in the goal area with ten shots (four on target) to Hartlepool’s three (two on target).
Now seven points clear of the League Two relegation zone and in eighteenth place the Blues are gradually building a buffer zone of safety between themselves and the unpalatable prospect of Conference football next season.
