MATCH REPORT – Wycombe 1-2 Bristol Rovers

Things started badly for Wycombe when Bristol Rovers when ahead in the eleventh minute thanks to a goal from a curling free kick from Lee Brown.

The scores evened up when Matt McLure back-flicked a volley in the twentieth minute to put Wycombe back in the match. Despite a valiant effort holding Bristol to 1-1, Wycombe succumbed in the seventy sixth minute when a close range goal from Clarkson gave Bristol Rovers the lead and condemned Wycombe to the relegation zone and possible exit from the football league.

Wycombe may have managed more shots (five to Bristol’s three) but only one of them was on target compared to the three on target shots from Bristol. Wycombe may have had more slightly more ball possession (52%) in the match but possession its goals that matter.

The attendance was 6,752.
