New cycle parking opened at Gerrards Cross station

| June 23, 2014

Two new double deck covered parking racks at Gerrards Cross rail station were officially opened on Thursday 19th June 2014.

The new cycle paring facilities provide space for 200 cycles, more than doubling the previous number of spaces available.

They were installed as part of Buckinghamshire County Council’s Access to Stations project. Buckinghamshire County Council is working with Sustrans, the sustainable travel charity, and Chiltern Railways to install new parking racks with funding being provided by the Department for Transport’s Local Sustainable Transport Fund (LSTF) at four stations.

The Access to Stations Project aims to encourage more people to use rail for their everyday journeys by giving them better access to stations.

New cycle parking racks have already been opened at Beaconsfield and Haddenham stations, Amersham station will be next to receive upgraded cycle parking facilities. Funding will also be used at each location for better signage on cycling routes, better bus information, and better walking routes between station and bus stops.

The project at Gerrards Cross is costing £100,000.
