Pair convicted of fraud and burglary in Hazlemere
A 38 year old man from Manton, Bretton, in Peterborough was jailed at Amersham Crown Court on 12 September 2014 after pleading guilty to 11 counts of fraud by false representation and one count of burglary in relation to offences committed in Hazlemere, Bucks.
The convicted man’s partner, a female aged 40 of Tylers Crescent in Hazelmere, was found guilty by a jury at the same court on one count of burglary.
Between 7.00am and 2.30pm on 7th March 2014 the man walked around the streets of Hazlemere knocking on doors and telling people that he had cleared their gutters and demanding payment of between £10 and £100.
On one occasion he entered a house in Rushmore Avenue uninvited and made the same claims to a woman before kissing her on the head to convince her to pay him money.
He was then caught in a house on Hawthorne Crescent and his partner was found outside trying to warn him of the police attendance.
The convicted man was given 20 months’ imprisonment and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £100.
His partner was given a community order for 12 months, a supervision requirement and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £60 and costs of £100.
