Barnet 1-3 Wycombe Wanderers

Wycombe Wanders, currently topping League Two, easily defeated Barnet at The Hive in the first round of the FA Cup which took place on Saturday 8th November 2014.

Barnet made the better start to the match with Akinde putting Barnet in the lead in the third minute. Barnet continued to attack the Wycombe goal but Matt Ingram kept the ball out of the Wycombe net.

In the thirty fourth minute Andy Yiadom fouled Wycombe’s Matt McClure and Paul Hayes levelled the score from the penalty spot.

Just before half time Barnet were reduced to ten men when Sam Togwell was sent off for a foul on Matt Bloomfield.

Aaron Pierre headed Wycombe in to the lead in the fifty ninth minute.

Sam Wood sealed the match for Wycombe in the seventy fourth minute with a tap-in almost on the goal line.

Barnet finished the match with nine men when Josh Scowen was fouled by Andy Yiadom who was then sent off.

With 52% possession Wycombe were by far the more dominant team even if they did make a slow start. Out of fifteen shots Wycombe managed to get seven on target with Barnet managing six shots on the Wycombe goal.

Wycombe Wanders came away with a well deserved victory and will go forth to the second round draw.
