Wycombe Wanderers powered their way back to the top spot in League Two with a decisive win at Cheltenham on Saturday 22nd November 2014.
Cheltenham took the lead in the third minute thank to a headed goal from Steve Elliott, however Wycombe responded one minute later with a goal from Paris Cowan-Hall.
A challenge on Peter Murphy by Lee Vaughan in the twenty fourth minute resulted in Cheltenham begin reduced to ten men when the referee deemed the challenge severe enough to warrant an instant sending off and showed Lee Vaughan the red card.
In the thirty seventh minute Steven Craig put Wycombe into the lead and the Blues never looked back. In the seventieth minute Joe Jacobson put the ball into the back of the net from a strike thirty yards out. Wycombe sealed the game thank to a Matt McClure goal in the ninety minute.
With 56% ball possession and ten shots on target Wycombe were by far the more dominant team. However Wycombe did conceded sixteen fouls compared to eleven for Cheltenham.
The is no doubt that Wycombe are the League Two team of the moment. Their return to the top spot, if only on goal difference from Burton Albion, was well deserved.
The attendance at Whaddon Road was 2,833 with 496 Wycombe supporters making the journey to Cheltenham.
