Man, 34, convicted and sentenced for an assault at Wycombe Sports Centre
Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police, a man has been convicted and sentenced for an assault at the Wycombe Sports Centre, Marlow Hill, High Wycombe.
After a one day trial at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 11th December 2014, a panel of magistrates found the 34 year old man from Green Hill, High Wycombe, guilty of one count of assault.
The man received a conditional discharge for 12 months, was ordered to pay costs of £250 and a victim surcharge of £15.
At about 4.30pm on Tuesday 26th November 2013, the man became involved in a verbal altercation with a member of staff at Wycombe Sports Centre, Marlow Hill.
During the incident, the man grabbed hold of the neck of a male member of the public.
The victim had to defend himself in order to end the altercation.
The man was arrested on suspicion of assault on Friday 17th January 2014 and was charged with the offence on Thursday 27th February 2014.
Designated Investigator Swarn Kohar of Force CID based at High Wycombe said: ‘I am pleased that [the man] has been convicted and sentenced for this assault. I am particularly pleased for the victim who was grabbed around the neck by [the man] during the offence, and for eye witnesses who had to endure verbal abuse from the defendant during the altercation.
Finally, I would like to thank staff at the leisure centre who acted swiftly to report the incident to Thames Valley Police, as well as all officers and staff who worked on the investigation.‘
