Carol concerts raised over £4,600 for Scanappeal
Over £4,600 has been raised for Scanappeal in December at concerts held in Chesham and Old Amersham.
On Sunday 7th December 2014 over 200 people packed Broadway Baptist Church, Chesham to hear The Chrysalis Community Choir ‘Christmas at twilight’ concert held in aid of Scanappeal.
The choir sang a mixture of classical Rutter pieces alongside Frozen from the popular Disney film and some Christmas favourites.
Mandy Watsham’s clear operatic solo voice sang Holy Night which was enhanced by reflecting on a WW1 tribute given by David Robinson from Searchlight Theatre Company. Nicky Pullen and Pam Hick directed the show with support from Clive Dunstall pianist and the Chrysalis Band.
The choirs patron Fiona Castle supported the evening and Don Baker, Scannappeal Treasurer and Trustee thanked everyone for coming and said a few words on behalf of Scannappeal. Over £1500 was raised for Bucks Digital & 3D Breast Screening Appeal.
Meanwhile on Thursday 4th December 2014 a capacity audience filled St Mary’s Church in Old Amersham for the annual Scannappeal Christmas Concert.
Young musicians from the Amersham Music Centre entertained with a selection of Christmas favourites and the choir from Little Chalfont Primary School opened proceedings with a heart touching rendition of Once in Royal David’s City.
There were some contemporary festive readings plus a couple of pieces by the Amersham Music Centre guitar group as well as solo performances by young local very talented singers Jemima Lomax and Rebecca Hallam and xylophone playing from Alex Pullen.
This annual Scannappeal Christmas treat, raised a further £3,100 towards the Sound Appeal at Amersham Hospital which is a £50,000 appeal to purchase advance diagnostic equipment for the audiology department.
