Thames Valley Police in the Chepping Wye Valley policing area have been making full use of their portable Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) System in order to target criminals coming into the area.

The APNR system has been recently used by the local policing team on Boundary Road, Loudwater and Church Road in Penn. Another team carried out an operation on London Road on Friday 23rd January 2015.

The system works by reading the number plates of vehicles passing the camera and then alerting the system operator if that particular vehicle is of interest to the Police or DVLA. The system operator can then make a decision whether that vehicle needs to be stopped by officers.

Further information can be found on the Thames Valley Alerts website.
