Wycombe Wanderers 1-0 Shrewsbury Town

A headed goal by Sam Wood after just forty seconds was enough to give Wycombe Wanderers a well deserved win at Adams Park against Shrewsbury Town on Saturday 14th March 2015.

The win propelled them into second place in League Two with an impressive sixty seven points from thirty six games.

Wycombe were by far the more dominant team, however Shrewsbury piled on the pressure towards the end of the match but they failed to make the breakthrough necessary.

After their early goal the Chairboys piled on the pressure, in the eight minute Fred Onyedinma made a spectacular twenty yard drive towards the Shrewsbury goal which was saved. Substitute Aaron Holloway also hit the cross bar in the ninetieth minute.

Both sides had eight shots at goal of which five were on target. Wycombe had 51% possession against Shrewsbury’s 49%.

However the match was marred by thirty two fouls (seventeen by Wycombe and fifteen by Shrewsbury).

The attendance at Adams Park was 4,697.
