Wycombe Wanderers may have won the game against Northampton Town on Saturday 2nd May 2015 but they lost the battle to be one of the teams who gained automatic promotion to League One thanks to Bury’s 1-0 win against Tranmere Rovers.
Aaron Holloway scored the first goal for the Chairboys in the thirty sixth minute. A few minutes later, in the thirty ninth minute, Nico Yennaris scored a second goal for Wycombe.
Northampton Town’s first goal came in the sixty seventh minute thanks to an own goal by Wycombe’s Sam Wood.
Ryan Cresswell made the scores even again in the eighty fifth minute but Alfie Mawson sealed the win for Wycombe with a goal in the ninety seventh minute.
In what was a game of two equal sides Northampton Town had 52% possession compared to 48% for Wycombe. However Northampton managed twelve shots on goal (five on target) to Wycombe’s eight shots on goal (also five on target).
The match saw thirty seven fouls, twenty one by Northampton and sixteen by Wycombe.
Wycombe finish the season in fourth place in League Two with eighty four points from forty six games.

Both times that Wycombe have played Portsmouth this season the result was a draw. Wycombe drew 0-0 with Portsmouth when they met at Adams Park on Saturday 31st January 2015 and it was a 1-1 draw when the Chairboys ventured to Fratton Park on Saturday 20th September 2014.
