Cyanide crystals discovered during refurbishment work at shop in Beaconsfield

A 1.5 litre container of potassium cyanide crystals and a three-litre tin of solidified cleaning fluid were discovered in the roof space of the former Time Piece shop being refurbished in Mayflower Way, Beaconsfield on the afternoon of Tuesday 11th August 2015.

Firefighters were called to the incident at 2.57pm. One fire appliance and crew from Beaconsfield fire station and one from High Wycombe fire station attended as well as the Operational Support Unit from Marlow fire station and three officers.

Firefighters wearing gas-tight suits with breathing apparatus attached placed the chemicals into an airtight hazardous materials bag for removal by an approved contractor.
