| January 11, 2016

The British Medical Association (BMA) has announced that its junior doctor members intend to take 24 hours of industrial action on Tuesday 12th January 2016.

Only emergency care will be provided by junior doctors between 8.00am on Tuesday 12th January 2016 and 8.00am on Wednesday 13th January 2016.

Another 48 hour strike is planned for Tuesday 26th January 2016 with emergency care only being provided by those taking the industrial action.

A full withdrawal of labour by junior doctors is scheduled between 8.00am and 5.00pm on Wednesday 10th February 2016.

Senior managers and clinicians within the South Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust have been putting plans in place in order to maintain safe and compassionate care for patients and to keep disruption of services to a minimum.

Should the industrial action go ahead the following plan will operate in South Buckinghamshire NHS Trust hospitals on Tuesday 12th January 2016 :

  • Urgent and emergency care services (including A&E, cardiac and stroke, critical care and maternity services) will continue to operate as usual.
  • Consultants along with those junior doctors who have not opted to take industrial action will cover the duties usually carried out by junior doctors on our wards to ensure the safety of inpatients.
  • Any patients who may have their appointments or planned operations rescheduled will be contacted individually and alternative appointments offered.

Further information can be found on the South Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust website.
