Thatched roofs and first floors of 3 cottages destroyed by fire at Whiteleaf

During the morning of Saturday 2nd April 2016 fire broke out in the thatched roofs of three cottages at Upper Icknield Way, Whiteleaf.

At 9.43am firefighters were called. One fire appliance with crew attended from Princes Risborough fire station, four from Aylesbury fire station, two from High Wycombe fire station, one from Haddenham fire station, one from Marlow fire station, one from Amersham fire station, one from Gerrards Cross fire station, one from Thame fire station, one from Wheatley fire station and one from Oxford attended. Five officers also attended bringing the number of fire service personnel at the scene to about 55 people in total.

Relief crews were also called in from Beaconsfield, Milton Keynes, Berkshire and Oxfordshire.

Six main jets, six sets of breathing apparatus, compressed air foam, ladders, a turntable ladder and hay drags were used during the operation to extinguish the fire.

Nobody was injured as a result of the fire however the roofs and first floors of the cottages were destroyed.
