Among the athletes confirmed for the Olympic and Paralympic celebrations taking place in Marlow on Sunday 2nd October 2016 are rowing great Katherine Grainger and Marlow’s gold medal winning hockey star Alex Danson.

The celebrations will be taking place from 2.00pm to 3.00pm close to Court Garden House in Higginson Park, Marlow.

Amber Hill, who narrowly missed out on a medal after reaching the semi-finals of the skeet, is also confirmed together with London 2012 Paralympic champion Naomi Riches following the Marlow resident’s successful world record row of the River Thames last week.

People will be able to ‘meet and greet’ the athletes as well as pose for photographs and obtain the athletes autographs. From 3.00pm to 4.00pm there will be a formal reception which is hosted by the Chairman of Wycombe District Council, Cllr Mahboob Hussain.

Wycombe District Council Chairman Cllr Mahboob Hussain said: ‘The whole country is so proud of the amazing success of our Olympians and Paralympians.

The fact that this area has produced, and will continue to produce, elite sportsmen and women who compete at national and international level is something that everyone in the Wycombe district can be proud of.

As well as the personal skills, talent and dedication of each of the individual sports men and women, we are also celebrating the dedication of the people who have also played a big part in that success too.

Our event on Sunday 2nd October is about celebrating the achievement and success, and saluting our athletes, as well as all the people who have played a part in their sports careers and who will continue to play a part in supporting the Olympians and Paralympians of the future.
