Oxford Parkway station named medium-size ‘Station of the Year’ at the National Rail Awards

Just 11 months after it opened Oxford Parkway station has won the title of medium-size ‘Station of the Year‘ at the National Rail Awards held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London on Thursday 22nd September 2016.

Opened by Chiltern Railways in October 2015, Oxford Parkway was one of two new stations opened on the new line between Oxford and London Marylebone.

The judges described the station as an ‘iconic‘ new station and praised not only the location, but also the staff, which they said were ‘setting the highest standards of service‘. They judges also commented that the station features an outstanding ticket hall, with innovative ticketing and information systems.

Jenny Payne, Customer Services Director at Chiltern Railways said: ‘We are very proud of Oxford Parkway and the incredible team of people working at the station.

When we designed the service, we put customers at the heart of our thinking to create a new way of travelling to London.

Our customers consistently tell us they like the experience we deliver and to have our investment and hard work recognised with this award, is a huge achievement.

On Monday 12th December 2016 the next phase of the Oxford to London Marylebone line will open when Chiltern Railways begins running trains from Oxford city centre.
