Police launch witness appeal following fatal collision on M40
A fatal collision involving two cars occurred on the Southbound carriageway of the M40 during the late evening of Wednesday 2nd November 2016.
The collision occurred between Junction 4 (Handy Cross) and Junction 3 (Loudwater) shortly before 10.00pm.
A green Ford Fiesta was in collision with the central reservation, the vehicle came to rest in lane two of the Southbound carriageway but was then in collision with a grey Mercedes E-class car.
The female driver of the Ford Fiesta was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver of the Mercedes sustained minor injuries. Police are still carrying our enquiries to locate the next of kin of the deceased.
The Motorway was closed while the emergency services attended to the collision.
Police have not made any arrests in connection with the collision however an appeal for witnesses has been launched.
Investigating officer PC Simon Nelson, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: ‘I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident, or who has any information which relates to it, to come forward and call us on the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number 101.‘
Firefighters were called to the scene of the collision at 9.53pm. One fire appliance with crew attended from Amersham fire station as well as one from Thame fire station. An officer attended.
The firefighters assisted Thames Valley Police and South Central Ambulance Service.
