2016 Beaconsfield Festival of Lights to take place on Wed 14th Dec 2016
The 2016 Beaconsfield Festival of Lights is to take place on Wednesday 14th December 2016 from 6.00pm to 8.30pm.
Organised by Rotary Clubs of Beaconsfield and Jordans & District, the popular event was started by the Beaconsfield Chamber of Commerce in the late 1980’s as a late night shopping evening. Over the years the event grew and raised significant amounts for charity, in recent years the organisation of the event has been taken over by the local Rotary clubs.
The main attractions at this years event are expected to include :
- Santa in his sleigh
- Parade of lanterns by local schoolchildren
- Fairground rides and stalls
- Laser light show
- Musical performances on two stages
- Pipe bands
- Bouncy castles
- Fire engine
- Special offers from local shops
- Charity BBQ provided by Rotary
- Food stalls
The highlights of the event will be the procession of lanterns made and decorated by schoolchildren with the support of their schools. Over 300 children and their parents are expected to participate in the parade.
Assembly for the lantern parade will be from 6.45pm to 7.00pm in the Sunrise car park in Station Road, Beaconsfield with the parade scheduled to start at 7.00pm. The parade will follow a route from Station Road to Town Hall green. Following the lantern parade will be carol singing on the green.
