Wycombe Wanderers travelled to Exeter City for a League Two match on Tuesday 31st January 2017.
The home side got off to a flying start when David Wheeler scored from close range in the nineteenth minute.
Undeterred Wycombe drew level in the thirty eighth minute though a shot from very close range by Garry Thompson which found the top left corner of the Exeter goal.
The game came alive in the second half when Exeter scored a second goal from a shot by Troy Brown in the sixty fifth minute, just two minutes later Exeter went 3-1 ahead as Joel Grant found the back of the Wycombe net.
The excitement continued as Wycombe scored a second in the dying minutes of the game, Alex Jakubiak finding the bottom right corner of the Exeter goal in the eighty ninth minute.
The Chairboys kept pressing, Aaron Pierre nearly drew the scores level in the second minute of extra time however in a thrilling climax to the match it was Exeter who sealed victory in the fifth minute of extra time thanks to Ollie Watkins placing a right footed shot from the centre of the box into the top right corner of the Wycombe goal.
Despite losing to promotion rivals Exeter, Wycombe remain in the play-off positions at seventh place in League Two with forty three points from twenty seven games.
During this evening’s game Wycombe managed 48% possession, of their ten shots on goal just three were on target. Exeter however placed six of their thirteen shots on target. The match was marred by twenty seven fouls, fifteen by Exeter players and twelve by Wycombe players.
The attendance at St. James Park was 3,656 (148 from Wycombe).
