Following a public consultation the play area at Hughenden Park is to be given a make over with a new forest-themed design later this year.
In January 2017 the council put forward three designs to a public vote with a poll held on the authority’s website. A further vote was held among schoolchildren at Hamilton Academy in High Wycombe.
The designs were created with feedback the council received during a public consultation held late last year which asked parents and children what theme and equipment they would like to use at a revamped play area.
£168,000 has been released from the Council’s Facilities for Young People Capital Fund to cover the work which is part of a rolling play area replacement programme.
The new play area should be open in time for the summer with work due to begin after the Easter school holidays. A contract for the construction of the play area has been awarded to Kompan.
Wycombe District Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Cllr Julia Adey said: ‘Thank you to everyone who voted and took part in the earlier public consultation.
All of the designs put forward were first class and I’m looking forward to seeing children and families enjoying the forest-themed play area later this year.‘
