On Friday 17th March 2017 veterans, current serving members of the military, reservists and cadets joined the Lord Lieutenant, Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher at the Waterside Theatre in Aylesbury to launch the official countdown to the Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes Armed Forces Day 2017 celebrations.

The event, which will take place at Aylesbury Rugby Club on Saturday 17th June 2017 from 12.00pm to 7.00pm aims to celebrate the local community’s support for all members of the armed forces and their families.

Once again this year the event promises to be a fantastic, fun day out for the whole family with live music and entertainment, a spectacular air show, rides and amusements, craft stalls and much more.

Buckinghamshire County Council Chairman Val Letheren joins High Sheriff Millie Soames and Lord Lieutenant Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher at the Armed Forces Day ticket launch.

At the launch event on Friday, Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher and Lt Col Simon Wilkinson gave a flavour of what to expect and also announced the winner of the children’s poster competition. Primary school children from Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes had been invited to design a poster for use with publicity for the event.

The six shortlisted posters were voted on by those attending the launch and the winner was announced as Suhani Potdar, a Year 6 pupil at Chesham Bois School. Suhani was presented with a certificate, a prize of a family ticket for entry to the event on Saturday 17th June 2017 and a £25 book token. The runners up all received a family ticket and a £10 book token.

Poster competition winner Suhani Potdar receives her prize from Lord Lieutenant Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher.
