Wycombe Wanderers travelled to Morecambe on Saturday 29th April 2017 for a League Two match.
The first half was lively with both sides having chances but failing to capitalise on their opportunities. With the score goalless at half time the second half continued much as the first half had left off.
It was looking very much as if a goalless draw would be the outcome of the match however in the eighty first minute Morecambe took the lead when Kevin Ellison took a shot from outside the box which found the bottom left corner of the Wycombe goal.
Wycombe needed to win, or draw, the match to keep their hopes of a spot in the play off zone alive. Going a goal down so close to the end of the game spurred the Blues on and they made three attempts on the Morecambe goal in the following four minutes.
The determination of Wycombe paid off and the score was levelled in the eighty ninth minute when Adebayo Akinfenwa struck the ball into the centre of the Morecambe goal.
Despite the match having seven minutes of injury time at the end of the second half the score remained a goal apiece and the points were shared keeping Wycombe’s hopes of a spot in the play off zone alive.
During the game Wycombe managed 57% possession with five of their ten shots on goal on target. Morecambe made twelve attempts on goal of which only three were on target. The match saw twenty two fouls, ten by Wycombe players and twelve by Morecambe.
Wycombe slip to eleventh position in League Two with sixty six points from forty five games. There is still a chance of Wycombe achieving a place in the play off zone but in the remaining games wins are needed rather than draws.
The attendance at The Globe Arena was 1,742.
