Cambridge United 1-3 Wycombe Wanderers

Wycombe Wanderers travelled to Cambridge for a League Two match on Saturday 7th October 2017.

The first half of the match was entertaining with both sides having chances to score but when the half time whistle blew neither side had scored.

It took just three minutes of the second half before the ball found the back of the Cambridge net with Eberechi Eze giving Wycombe the lead through a right footed shot which found the top left corner of the goal.

Eberechi Eze scored a second goal in the fifty seventh minute, the ball again finding the top left corner of the Cambridge net.

Wycombe were in a commanding position with a two goal lead when, in the sixty ninth minute, Marcus Bean fouled Uche Ikpeazu in the penalty area giving Cambridge United a penalty which was duly converted in the seventieth minute by Medy Elito.

Wycombe scored a third goal in the eighty ninth minute to put the game beyond the reach of the home side. Josh Umerah found the bottom left corner of the Cambridge goal with a right footed shot from the centre of the box.

A decisive win by Wycombe handed the Chairboys three points propelling them fourth place in League Two with twenty four points from twelve games.

Wycombe managed 56% possession however they only managed to get four of their twelve shots on goal on target. Cambridge made seventeen shots on the Wycombe goal of which nine were on target. Thirty three fouls marred the game, eighteen committed by Cambridge players and fifteen by Wycombe.

The attendance at the Abbey Stadium was 5,365 (568 from Wycombe).
