Manager of nursing care home in Downley shortlisted as finalist at the National Dementia Care Awards 2017

The manager of a nursing care home in Downley has been shortlisted as a finalist at the National Dementia Care Awards 2017.

Blesson Thomas, home manager at The Heights in Langley Close, Downley is a finalist in the Best Dementia Care Manager award category.

The National Dementia Care Awards, now in their eighth year, are designed to praise the very best people in dementia care. The winners will be announced on Thursday 9th November 2017 during a presentation dinner at Doncaster Racecourse.

The Best Dementia Care Manager award category is open to outstanding dementia managers (or deputies) in a dementia focused environment. The dementia care manager will show exceptional leadership, caring, training and management skills for the benefit of service users and staff.

In 2016 The Heights, which is part of The Fremantle Trust, became the first ever Care Quality Commission (CQC) ‘Outstanding’ rated nursing care home in Buckinghamshire following an unannounced inspection visit in January 2016.
