Community projects in Amersham could get share of £9,000 funding
Community projects in Amersham are being invited to bid for a share of £9,000 of County Council funding via the Amersham Local Area Forum.
On Monday 12th March 2018 Buckinghamshire County Council launched ‘Amersham Decides’ enabling people running local community projects to bid for a share of £9,000 of County Council funding via the Amersham Local Area Forum.
Schemes put forward will be whittled down to four ‘finalists’ and then local people will vote on how the money should be divvied up between the four projects.
Previous winners have included a group running mental health first aid courses, a pop up cinema and a memory box project at Amersham Museum.
To see if your project in Amersham could qualify then take a look at the details at www.amershamdecides.co.uk and fill out a proposal form.
Projects need to address one of the County Council’s priorities which are:
- Safeguarding Our Vulnerable.
- Creating Opportunities & Building Self Reliance.
- Ensuring Buckinghamshire is Thriving and Attractive.

County Councillor Gareth Williams, chair of the Amersham Local Area Forum, said: ‘We want local people to be able to decide for themselves how money is spent in their area. Whatever your scheme is, if you can show that it’s benefitting the community then we want to hear from you.
Please don’t be put off if you’ve not heard of this before or have never bid for funding or had any previous contact with the Council. It would be brilliant to find out more about what Amersham locals are doing in the area so please get in touch and put your project forward – it’s really straightforward and could ultimately win you thousands of pounds.‘
The £9,000 will be split between the four winning projects. The project with the most votes will get £4,000, the runner up £2,500, third place £1,500 and fourth place £1,000. Submissions will be accepted until mid-May 2018 when the four finalists will then be announced and local people can then vote for their favourites in early summer 2018.
The Amersham Local Area Forum covers Amersham Town, Chenies, Chesham Bois, Coleshill and Penn.
