Mock crane rescue exercise staged at housing development in Hazlemere
A mock crane rescue exercise has taken place at a new Retirement Living housing development in Holmer Green Road in Hazlemere.
Organised by McCarthy and Stone Site Manager, Ali Shabani, in partnership with Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service the exercise provided firefighters with a realistic training scenario relating to the on-site tower crane.
The crane has been erected to enable construction on the development, which will eventually comprise a collection of Retirement Living apartments exclusively for the over 60’s. The apartments will be released for off-plan sales in May 2018 with first home owners expected to move in autumn 2018.
Crew Commander Ricky Smith, based at Beaconsfield Fire Station, said: ‘In the event that a rescue situation arises it is incredibly important that we can act quickly to secure the safety of workers on site.
Mock rescue activities such as this are incredibly valuable, providing our crews with an opportunity to practice in a real life setting, yet with the support of being in a safe and controlled environment. We would like to thank McCarthy and Stone for facilitating the session, which proved a real success.‘
Ali Shabani, [Site Manager at Trinity Place, Hazlemere] for McCarthy and Stone, added: ‘McCarthy and Stone is dedicated to prioritising Health and Safety on site as part of our ongoing commitment to delivering five star service and quality across every area of the business.
Supporting the training of local emergency service teams is of utmost importance to creating a safe environment for our site workers and we were pleased to assist with the mock rescue in Hazlemere.‘
Located in the heart of the village between the Hazlemere Recreational Ground and Hazlemere Golf Club, future home owners at the McCarthy and Stone development will be able to enjoy all that Hazlemere has to offer, with a doctor’s surgery, library, pharmacy and Post Office only half a mile from the development.
Once complete, the Hazlemere development will feature a stylish Club Lounge, ideal for socialising; beautiful landscaped gardens in which to relax; and a guest suite, which provides a comfortable stay for visiting family and friends. A House Manager will take care of the day-to-day running of the development; and a security entrance system and 24-hour emergency call points will provide added peace-of-mind.
