Coach carrying 25 people caught fire on M40
During the morning of Thursday 24th May 2018 a coach caught fire while travelling on the M40.
The incident occurred on the Southbound carriageway of the motorway between Junction 4 (Handy Cross) and Junction 3 (Loudwater).
At 10.53am firefighters were called to extinguish the fire on board the coach which had been parked on the hard shoulder of the motorway. Two fire appliances with crews attended from High Wycombe fire station as well as one from Beaconsfield fire station. An officer also attended.
A hose reel, two sets of breathing apparatus and a Positive Pressure Ventilation fan were used during the operation to extinguish the fire.
Two lanes of the motorway were closed while the emergency services dealt with the incident.
All twenty five people on board the coach got off safely.
