Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway to open main line rail interchange on Wed 15th Aug 2018

| June 8, 2018

A new cross platform interchange facility at Princes Risborough station will soon make the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway the nearest main line connected heritage railway to London.

On the afternoon of Wednesday 15th August 2018 the newly restored platform 4 at Princes Risborough will be opened to the public allowing passengers to interchange from/to mainline services operated by Chiltern Railways and heritage steam services provided by the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway.

When the new interchange opens the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway steam railway will be under 40 minutes travelling time from London Marylebone. Public rail services between Princes Risborough and Chinnor will also once again become a reality.

The Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway will start selling tickets to the public, which will be for a return journey in either direction, on Sunday 1st July 2018. However tickets can only be purchased in advance through the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway website.

The first train to run between Chinnor and Princes Risborough on Wednesday 15th August 2018 will be reserved for guests who have supported the project. These include guests from the Department for Transport who gave a £75,000 grant in August 2016, Network Rail and Chiltern Railways who worked alongside C&PRR volunteers to make sure the project was completed.

On the afternoon of Wednesday 15th August 2018 public services will commence operation running as ‘The Watlington Flyer’ which will travel non-stop taking around 15 minutes each way for the four mile trip.

Further information on the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway heritage railway, which is entirely operated by volunteers, can be found on the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway website.
