A growing educational publishing company based in High Wycombe has won the ‘Best in Creative Industries’ award at the 2018 British Indian Awards.
‘Author In Me’ was founded in 2016 by Ekta Bajaj and Monica Sood and specialises in devising techniques to impart and encourage organic education for children aged 7 to 14 years old in creative writing, vocabulary, well being and entrepreneurship.
The company started as a personalised book design service for parents looking for a solution to preserve their child’s artwork. To date more than 1,100 personalised story books have been designed and published.
Starting with a batch of 5 students, Author In Me has expanded to conducting regular skill enhancement courses and workshops for children. The company has also collaborated with Costa Coffee to conduct an entrepreneurial course for children aged 10 to 14 years.
Operating from study centres in High Wycombe, Amersham, Watford and Harrow their young authors family now caters for more than 500 students from 6 to 14 years of age.
‘We want introduce positive learning in children. The kind of learning that triggers the inquisitive mind to be active in finding innovative solutions. This is the need of the hour.‘ says Ekta Bajaj.
‘Our holistic approach allows us to focus on every child’s unique ability and talent. We limit our study groups to maximum 12 with a flexible age range to allow positive flow of learning.‘ says Monica Sood.
Inspiring young children to express their thoughts coherently may not be an easy task but Monica and Ekta have successfully turned their passion into a thriving business. They were nominated as a finalist and competed with six other businesses in the ‘Best in Creative Industries’ category. The award was presented at an event held at The St Johns Hotel in Solihull on Wednesday 11th July 2018.
‘This award means a lot. The fact that we emerged as winner amongst so many talented people reinforces our self belief and reflects the love that we have received by parents and children.‘ says Monica Sood.
‘We work incredibly hard and to believe in something for not just one day but for 365 days continuously is not easy. This award is just a proof that hard work reinforced with positivity brings nothing but joy.‘ adds Ekta Bajaj.
