Doncaster Rovers 3-0 Wycombe Wanderers
Wycombe travelled away to Doncaster Rovers for a League One game on Saturday 12th August 2018.
In just the eighth minute Wycombe had a change to go ahead when they were awarded a free kick following a foul on Bryn Morris. Adebayo Akinfenwa tried to head home from close range as the ball came in but missed to the right of the goal.
Around the thirty minute mark Doncaster had several good opportunities to go ahead but their attempts were either off target or saved.
Wycombe nearly scored in the first minute of extra time at the end of the first half but the shot, by Anthony Stewart, was saved as it went towards the bottom right corner of the Doncaster goal.
Doncaster started the second half in a positive mood with several attempts on the Wycombe goal. Their efforts paid off in the fifty fifth minute when Mallik Wilks put the home team ahead with a left footed shot from outside the box which found the bottom right corner of the Wanderers goal.
Doncaster scored a second in the seventy eighth minute following a set piece when Joe Wright shot from the centre of the box into the bottom left corner of the Wycombe goal.
Two minutes later the home team took a 3-0 lead when John Marquis shot from very close range and the ball ended up in the bottom right corner of the Chairboys net.
Wycombe were unable to respond and the match ended wih victory to Doncaster by three goals to nil.
Following today’s game Wycombe drop to twentieth place in League One, just one place above the relegation zone, with one point from two games.
