New garden for NSIC patients opened at Stoke Mandeville Hospital

| September 13, 2018

A new garden for patients of the National Spinal Injuries Centre was opened at Stoke Mandeville Hospital on Sunday 9th September 2018.

To mark the completion of the Horatio’s Garden project at the NSIC a group of specially invited guest joined with patients and staff to watch the president of the National Gardens Scheme, and local celebrity, Mary Berry, preside over the official opening.

The garden is the result of nearly three years of fund raising by the Horatio’s Garden charity, their legions of volunteers and supporters many of whom came to the opening event.

Designed by leading garden designer and regular presenter on BBC Gardeners’ World, Joe Swift, the garden includes a special garden room designed by architect Andrew Wells.

All ongoing care and maintenance of the garden and delivering activities for patients in the garden will be the responsibility of the Horatio’s Garden charity.
