Wycombe Wanderers 0-0 Oxford United

| September 15, 2018

Oxford United were welcomed to Adams Park on Saturday 15th September 2018 for a League One match with Wycombe Wanderers.

Injuries to two players at the start of the match caused a long delay in the game. In the seventh minute Wycombe lost Anthony Stewart because of an injury, he was substituted with Michael Harriman. In the twenty fourth minute a clash of heads between two Oxford United defenders left Cameron Brannagan in need of medical attention on the pitch before being stretchered off. He was replaced with Josh Ruffels.

Wycombe were unlucky not to take the lead in the fifteenth minute when a header from Randell Williams hit the bar.

The rest of the first half saw both sides have chances but fail to capitalise on them. There were ten extra minutes of injury time at the end of the first half as a result of the earlier injuries in the game. Even during injury time both sides were still pressing to take the lead but the illusive goal did not materialise.

The second half was very similar to the first half with both sides having chances but no goals as a result.

In the sixth minute of injury time and the end of the second half Adebayo Akinfenwa headed home following a free kick taken by Joe Jacobson. Although the ball found the back of the net the linesman lifted his flag cutting short Wycombe’s goal celebrations.

The match ended as a draw, a result that has become too familiar for comfort for Wycombe this season. The Blues now occupy nineteenth place in League One with seven points from eight games.
