Desborough Road to close for repairs after traffic damages kerbs and central reservation on new ‘Masterplan’ road
A section of Desborough Road in High Wycombe is to close for repairs after being damaged by traffic.
Repairs to traffic damage on High Wycombe’s Alternative Route, will be carried out during two brief road closures later in October 2018.
A short section of Desborough Road, between the Bridge Street and Westbourne Street junctions, will close to traffic on Monday 29th October 2018 for up to five days to allow contractors to safely repair short sections of kerb work, and some granite channel and central reservation blocks.
On Monday 5th and Tuesday 6th November 2018 about 10 metres of Bridge Street from the Desborough Road junction will close to traffic so repairs can take place to drain covers in the middle of the road and a granite channel that forms the outline of the informal pedestrian crossings.
During the closures buses will be diverted via Oxford Road while there will be local diversions for other traffic which will be clearly signed.
Mark Shaw, Buckinghamshire County Council Deputy Leader and Transport Cabinet Member, said that if work along Desborough Road progressed well, the Bridge Street closure would be brought forward to minimise disruption.
‘I’m sorry we need to close these short sections of road, but we do need to make the safety of the workforce our priority,‘ said Mark. ‘I understand this may cause inconvenience, for which I apologise, but I’m pleased these repairs are now being done.‘
