Wycombe Wanderers 1-1 Sunderland

Sunderland visited Adams Park for a League One match against Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday 9th March 2019.

Wycombe made a positive start to the match. In the seventeenth minute the Chairboys nearly went ahead when Luke Bolton shot from the right side of the six yard box. Although close the shot missed to the right.

With numerous attempts on goal it was looking as if Wycombe were certain to take the lead. In the thirty fifth minute Alex Samuel scored for the Blues with a right footed shot which found the centre of the Sunderland goal.

At half time Wycombe were still in the lead.

Throughout the second half Wycombe were still making shots on the Sunderland goal and looking as if they may score a second. When the ninety minutes were up Wycombe were still in the lead and it was looking to be a win for the home side.

In the fourth minute of extra time at the end of the second half Sunderland levelled the score through Duncan Watmore who shot from very close range into the centre of the Wycombe goal.

Tensions flared and in the eighth minute of extra time both Nathan Tyson (Wycombe Wanderers) and George Honeyman (Sunderland) were shown the red card for violent conduct.

Two minutes later Wycombe lost Marcus Bean after he was shown a second yellow card for a bad foul on Sunderland’s Duncan Watmore in the attacking half.

The game ended as a draw and the points were shared.

Following today’s match Wycombe remain in twelfth position in League One with forty four points from thirty six games.
