Southend United 0-2 Wycombe Wanderers
Wycombe Wanderers travelled to Southend for a League One match on Saturday 13th April 2019.
The match started positively for Wycombe with, in the third minute, both Dominic Gape and Scott Kashket taking shots on the Southend goal. However both attempts were blocked.
In the twenty fourth minute Adebayo Akinfenwa came close to scoring for Wycombe however his header was saved as it made its way towards the bottom right corner of the Southend net.
Wycombe had several further chances to go ahead in the first half however at half time neither side had scored.
The Chairboys started the second half very positively and took the lead in the sixty ninth minute through Adebayo Akinfenwa who shot from the right side of the six yard box with the ball finding the top left corner of the Southend goal.
Adebayo Akinfenwa scored a second for Wycombe just three minutes later, this time from a header following a set piece situation with the ball placed into the top right corner of the Southend net.
Southend were unable to respond and Wycombe travelled home with three desperately needed points.
Following today’s game Wycombe climb to seventeenth position in League One with forty seven points from forty two games. However they are only four places, and three points, away from the relegation zone.
