Rail services between Princes Risborough and London Marylebone suffer disruption on Thu 18th April 2019
Rail services between Princes Risborough and London Marylebone were disrupted on the evening on Thursday 18th April 2019.
The line between Princes Risborough and the capital was closed for several hours while emergency services dealt with an incident. It is believed the line closure was a result of a person being struck by a train in the Gerrards Cross area.
Trains to Birmingham were diverted via Aylesbury while the High Wycombe line was closed.
The closure came just as Chiltern Railways services are expected to be busier than usual over the forthcoming Bank Holiday weekend due to engineering work on the West Coat Main line resulting in the closure of London Euston.
The railway line has since re-opened however Chiltern Railways services are subject to delays and cancellations due to the carriage and driver displacement.
At 9.30pm the following Tweet was posted on the official Chiltern Railways Twitter page announcing the suspension of services on the High Wycombe line :
Due to the police dealing with an incident the mainline will remain closed. Services to Birmingham will be diverted via Aylesbury. There will be ongoing delays and cancellations for the rest of the evening. pic.twitter.com/38PNAyX7Gz
