Two men sentenced to prison following kidnapping incident in Princes Risborough on New Years Day 2019

Two men have been jailed after being convicted of kidnapping following an incident in Princes Risborough on New Years Day 2019.

The conviction relates to an incident that occurred at around 3.30am on Tuesday 1st January 2019. A woman, who was 19 years old at the time, left the Signature nightclub in Pauls Row, High Wycombe to make their way home. The two men followed the victim and her sister onto the train before getting off behind her at Princes Risborough.

The 19 year old victim became separated from her sister and the two men followed her along an unlit street where they grabbed her, taking her along Park Street and into a car park. Following a struggle the 19 year old woman managed to run away, escaping with cuts and bruises.

Both men were arrested on Thursday 24th January 2019 and charged on Friday 26th January 2019.

On Tuesday 16th July 2019, at Aylesbury Crown Court, a 26 year old man and a 25 year old man, both of Colbourne Road, High Wycombe, were found guilty of kidnapping following a trial lasting five days.

On Monday 9th September 2019 both men returned to Aylesbury Crown Court for sentencing. The 26 year old man was sentenced to five years imprisonment and the 25 year old man was sentenced to four years imprisonment.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Emily Addison of Force CID based at High Wycombe police station, said: ‘This was a frightening ordeal for the victim where she was followed and targeted by two unknown men.

The dedication of the investigation team and the support of the victim and her family in this case has enabled us to bring [the two men] to justice, and they will now serve prison sentences as a result.

The conviction follows an investigation by Thames Valley Police.
